Cause for Celebration: Emma Coburn

As a part of our Cause for Celebration series presented by PNC, we’re spotlighting Emma Coburn, one of the greatest steeplechasers in U.S. history. Emma is a world champion, world silver medalist, Olympic bronze medalist, and a three-time Olympian in the 3000m steeplechase!

At the 2017 World Championships in London, Emma made history by becoming the first American to win a steeplechase world title and set a championship record in the process. She followed that with silver at the 2019 World Championships in Doha and captured bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, breaking American records along the way!

A dominant force domestically and internationally, Emma’s career is defined by speed, strength, and barrier-breaking performances that have elevated the steeplechase on the world stage. Today we celebrate a trailblazer whose legacy continues to inspire runners everywhere!
