Cause for Celebration: Wilma Rudolph

As part of our Cause for Celebration series presented by @pncbank, we’re honoring Wilma Rudolph, a true sprinting sensation who turned resilience into record-breaking speed.

After overcoming polio as a child, Wilma made her Olympic debut at just 16, earning bronze in the 4x100m relay at the 1956 Games. Four years later, she stole the show in Rome, winning gold in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, all while setting three world records and becoming the fastest woman in the world.

She was dubbed “The Black Gazelle” by the European press for her speed, beauty, and grace, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of athletes to this day.
