Cause for Celebration: Priscilla Welch (Copy)

In the spotlight this week for our Cause for Celebration series Presented by PNC is Nicole Benson!

Nicole brought a state cross country title to Limestone High School in 2007 and placed 9th in the mile at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games, nearly breaking 5 minutes (5:02).

She found continued success at Bradley University, posting the 2nd fastest 5k time in program history (17:37) at the 2009 Notre Dame Invitational. After transferring to the University of Iowa she ran a 21:29 6000 meter at the Big 10 Championships and her 4000 meter was the 6th fastest in program history.

Nicole is among many local women runners whose stories continue to inspire the next generation of female athletes and we couldn’t be more honored to tell it!
