Cause for Celebration: Seven Hicks

As part of our Cause for Celebration series Presented by PNC, we’re recognizing a hometown standout whose speed and strength continue to turn heads on the track—Peoria’s own Seven Hicks.

From state titles at Richwoods High School to the Big Ten stage, Seven’s journey is defined by grit, growth, and greatness. A two-time Class A Illinois state champion, Hicks went on to become a three-time MVC champion and 100m regionals qualifier before transferring to Nebraska, where she’s continued to rewrite the record books.

In 2025, she broke the Prairie Wolf Invitational meet record in the 60m (7.57), clocked a blazing 24.20 in the 200m at the Central Nebraska Challenge, and helped lead top finishes at the prestigious Drake Relays. Indoors or out, she consistently shows up as a force on the sprint scene.

But Seven's story is more than just fast times—it's about persistence, progression, and pride in where you come from. Her legacy is still being written, but she's already inspired a generation of athletes in Peoria and beyond.

Here's to Seven Hicks—one of our Triumphs of Women in Running.
